Our Story

My name is Melvin Battiest, a member of the Muscogee Nation who spent over 37 years incarcerated. Upon release in November 2021, I sought tribal assistance but faced initial barriers due to living off the reservation. Despite this, with perseverance and a friend's help, I accessed limited support. Realizing the broader challenge of tribal members denied aid after release, my wife Tammeria and I founded "Native Wings Like An Eagle Inc." to provide essential assistance. Many face hurdles reintegrating post-incarceration, yet aid is vital. With your support, we aim to ensure our Native people thrive beyond these odds.
